Tradera – a sustainable business model for circular consumption

Tradera’s sustainable business model in combination with their solid sustainability work were important factors when Ceder acquired the Company in 2022.

Traderas circular business model

For more than 20 years, Tradera has contributed to circular consumption by allowing consumers to buy and sell second-hand goods. The major share of a product’s climate impact occurs when it is being produced. By providing a platform for used products the lifespan is extended, the demand for new production decreases, the climate footprint becomes smaller, and less waste is generated. Every second a used product finds a new owner to prolong its lifetime on the Tradera platform.

““Only objects that are used… or that aim to extend the lifecycle of a product are allowed on our platform.””

Traderas sustainability impact

Most of the Company’s climate impact comes from transportation. Computers also make up a significant share of the Company’s emissions. Tradera is actively working towards decreasing its emission of greenhouse gases by for example using co-shipping and choosing renewable energy sources for their offices. The emissions that do still arise are compensated for and Tradera is, since 2019, a climate certified company.

“We continues to report according to the GHG protocol and compensates for the minimal emissions generated”

Social responsibility

Tradera’s sustainable business model in combination with their solid sustainability work were important factors when Ceder acquired the Company in 2022.

The Company also engages in areas concerning internal social sustainability such as the wellbeing of employees, protection of a non-discriminatory workplace, and diversity.

“We believe that the best solutions and ideas come from diverse groups, and that a pleasant and welcoming work environment is achieved through equality.”

Tradera’s ambitious sustainability goals

That is why Tradera has developed an ambitious roadmap that contains tangible sustainability goals until 2025. Among other things, Tradera plans on optimising its energy consumption, material supply, waste management, form of transportation as well as shipping options.

“We deem that profitability should not be generated on the expense of our planet and we are convinced that demand for new production decreases for every second-hand product that is sold through our platform”
